The Clintons famously rented out the Lincoln bedroom in the ‘90s to wealthy donors who raised and contributed at least $5.4 million to the Democratic National Committee.

Five of those guests are still raising money for Hillary Clinton to this day: Steve Rattner, Maureen White, Lisa & Richard Perry, and Elizabeth Bagley. [Read more…]

Two Arizona Democrats are playing politics on a historic trade deal as they seek re-election in competitive House districts. They are communicating in private with powerful unions while refusing to tell their constituents where they stand on the issue.

Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick (D-AZ) has privately signaled to unions that she will oppose the Trans-Pacific Partnership, but has refused to publicly state her position on the topic only saying through a spokesman that she will make her stance public soon.

Rep. Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ) has previously told unions she was opposed to the deal, but after being personally pressured by President Obama to support the trade deal she is now undecided. Sinema declined to clarify her position and has been avoiding interviews.

Meanwhile Arizona AFL-CIO Executive Director Rebekah Friend has said there could be political consequences for Democrats in the next election based on their votes.

A group of Democratic Congressmen have recently been vocal in their criticism of Nancy Pelosi and House Democratic leadership. The Blue Dog Democrats, a coalition whose numbers have plummeted to unprecedented lows in the last decade, are unapologetic in their criticism of Democratic leaders and the destructive path on which the Democratic Party is headed.

Roll Call: “After 20 years, the Blue Dogs insist their mission is the same — they’re just trying to save the Democratic Party from itself.”

Blue Dog Coalition Chairman Kurt Schrader (D-OR):

“You can’t continue to ignore big chunks of the American voter because you have certain ideological ideas.”

Schrader said he has even told Democratic leaders that he would encourage his coalition members to vote against the Democratic agenda to show his frustration:

“I’m going to encourage my members, unless I see some changes in the Democrat message, to vote against Democrats as often as we can to show not all Democrats are one big monolithic group.”

One Southern Democrat, Rep. Jim Cooper (D-TN), noted the fear that many Members of Congress have of their leadership:

“Committee assignments, permissions to do lots of things that are in the discretion of party leadership… fundraising ability, lots of things are withheld from members who are not perfectly loyal.”

On CNBC this morning, Frank Holmes awkwardly refused to give details on his involvement in the Clinton uranium scandal. When asked when he bought and sold Uranium One stock, Holmes claimed to not remember. Holmes also donated to the Clinton Foundation.  [Read more…]

Yesterday, Rep. Rick Nolan held a news conference announcing his support for a new federal gas tax. MPR News reports:

Zelle made his comments after U.S. Reps. Rick Nolan, Tim Walz and Keith Ellison also said during a news conference that they support increasing the federal gas tax to pay for transportation.

Nolan has a long history of supporting gas taxes. During his first stint in Congress, Nolan supported increasing the gas tax in 1975. Same “Radical Rick,” same
failed policies.

ClintonEverydayAmericans

Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign wants the “everyday Americans” of this country to see her as a champion for their issues.

The only problem is that Clinton, who owns two mansions, hasn’t driven a car since 1996, and is worth north of $55 million, prefers to spend her time with well-heeled donors. [Read more…]
