Former Top Clinton Campaign Officials Unhelpfully Coach From The Sidelines

Secretary of State John Kerry will appear today before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee to discuss the controversial Iran nuclear deal. Because Hillary Clinton is said to “own” the Iran deal, it is worth reviewing some provisions Clinton has supported that are now being challenged.

Inspections are emerging as one of the most significant concerns surrounding the deal. Clinton, in April, called for an “intrusive inspection program with no sites off limits,” and last week said the deal included “unyielding verification.” But the inspection provisions in the deal are now under fire for being inadequate:

The Obama administration’s claim that the Iran nuclear accord provides for airtight verification procedures is coming under challenge from nuclear experts with long experience in monitoring Tehran’s program. … [S]everal experts, including a former high-ranking official at the International Atomic Energy Agency, said a provision that gives Iran up to 24 days to grant access to inspectors might enable it to escape detection.

Clinton claimed the nuclear agreement “can make the United States, Israel, and our Arab partners safer,” adding later in her statement that the US must be “clear-eyed” about “the broader threat Iran represents.” But Clinton has not been clear-eyed about the nuclear agreement she is supporting – the very agreement Clinton claimed can make America safer is said to free up over $100 billion for Iran. The unsettling belief that Iran will use these funds, in part, for terrorism is widespread.

The Washington PostIts most immediate effect will be to provide Tehran with up to $150 billion in fresh assets from sanctions relief over the next year, funds that its leaders will probably use to revive the domestic economy but also to finance wars and terrorist groups in Iraq, Syria, the Gaza Strip, Yemen and elsewhere.

A Wall Street Journal report: Iran will uphold its anti-American policies and continue to support regional allies inimical to Western interests, Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said Saturday

Despite Clinton’s rhetoric, this nuclear deal is facing serious questions from experts and given the lack of resounding support on Capitol Hill, it is only likely to get worse.

The primary process appears to be tearing Ohio Democrats apart at the seams. Instead of just letting the primary process play out, the Ohio Democratic Party is meddling with the campaign of P.G. Sittenfeld, a Cincinnati City Council member.

West Virginia Billionaire/Gubernatorial Candidate Jim Justice and his family combined to give the Democrat Party $40,000. No big deal right?

Except, it wasn’t the West Virginia Democrat Party that got the funds, but the Kentucky Democrat Party.

Justice, who has an outstanding bill for $2 million after a 2013 coal deal got caught up in federal court, also has had some run-ins with KY Governor Steve Beshear’s administration:

“Justice is currently under the watch of Beshear’s Department for Natural Resources which is enforcing compliance of an agreed order of August of 2014 to clean up a record number of strip mining reclamation violations at his mines in Eastern Kentucky.”

That’s not keeping Beshear (not to be confused with his son, Andy), from taking “hundreds of thousands of dollars” from Justice and playing golf with Justice and Tiger Woods.

With the Kentucky Democrats spending tens of thousands of dollars to support Jack Conway and Andy Beshear – the question is: whose interests are they going to look out for – out-of-state billionaires or hardworking Kentuckians?

According to Peter A. Brown, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Poll “She has lost ground in the horse race and on key questions about her honesty and leadership.”

CNN called the new poll results “terrible” for Hillary Clinton, especially when it came to her honest and trustworthy numbers.

This morning’s local coverage of the Quinnipiac Poll wasn’t any better for the former Secretary.

Crist TurtleFollowing Charlie Crist’s announcement that he intends to run in Florida’s 13th Congressional district, already-declared Democrat Eric Lynn has vowed to stay in the race. Crist has yet to make the announcement and is waiting to see if conditions can guarantee him a win, so he can avoid yet another electoral embarrassment. Adamant about running, Lynn said he wouldn’t be pushed aside for Crist.

Unlike Alex Sink, Crist doesn’t look like he can clear the field for the Democratic nomination. Now, much to the chagrin of the Democratic Party, they’re looking at another heated primary in a must-win seat.
