Illinois Democrat Cheri Bustos was recently caught breaking a promise about returning 10 percent of her salary. Once again, Bustos’ dishonesty is on display. In October 2012, she claimed to have divested from a mutual fund which had invested in the Hong Kong supply chain company Li & Fung.
But records show that she did not actually divest from the fund until May 2013.
[Her spokesman Colin] Milligan said at the time of the debate she thought it had been sold. “In her mind, it was,” he said. “She asked for it to be done.”
Bustos failed to confirm she had divested from the fund before she broadcasted false information and misled voters. Wouldn’t telling the truth be a lot easier?
